Cultural holidays on the Ritten

Do you like to discover Museums and expand your horizon during your holidays? Then you have come to the right place! There is much to discover in South Tyrol and thanks to the RittenCard all the admissions will be free of charge.
While visiting “Ötzi” – the Iceman displayed at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology and following up with a tour of the Museion, Bolzano's museum of modern and contemporary art, you will have the chance of acquiring knowledge in a relaxed environment. The Museum of Apiculture in Wolfsgruben on the Ritten and the Museum of Nature in Bolzano are particularly recommended for a visit with the whole family. The Messner Mountain Museum, with its six incomparable locations spread over the unique mountain landscapes of South Tyrol and the Belluno region is also well worth a visit, because as Reinhold Messner himself states “the Messner Mountain Museum is a place of encounter with the mountains, with mountain people and ultimately with ourselves.”
Is it rather the people of South Tyrol you are interested in? The best way to get acquainted with them is by strolling around the historic city centers of Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone, Chiusa Brunico or Vipiteno. We recommend a visit to the Cathedral in Bolzano followed up by a “macchiato” on Piazza Walther in the heart of the capital of the province. The botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are among the many attractions of the resort town Merano. A highlight of any South Tyrolean holiday, the dazzling array and botanical diversity can enchant the most hardboiled visitor.
Last but not least, the most beautiful sights South Tyrol has to offer were not created by man but developed over thousands and thousands of years: our unique natural sites. From the Dolomites to the various lakes like the „Pragser Wildsee“ (Lago di Braies) or the „Karersee“ (Lago di Carezza), these sites remind you of how much beauty inhabits our world. On the Ritten, the ancient earth pyramids are a popular sightseeing destination for nature lovers.

There is so much to be discovered, described, recounted and admired in South Tyrol. We invite you to come and seek out the most beautiful and interesting sites in the Dolomites.
We wish you a pleasant holiday!
