How the Wagyu cattle got on the Ritten

Around 90 Wagyu cattle now live on the Oberweidacherhof on Ritten. But that was not always so. 8 years ago the farm was a normal dairy farm like many others here on the Ritten.
Stefan Rottensteiner the young farmer, who has now taken over the farm, wanted to do something new. Above all, it was important to him that your species-appropriate form of cattle farming would secure the future of the farm. “I came up with the idea of breeding Wagyucattle because I read about the coveted meat from Japan on the internet. Then I immediately thought that this is what I was looking for. A few days later I ordered the first wagyu-embryos! "says Stefan. The herd was gradually built up until in 2017 the operation was completely geared towards wagyu breeding. The meat of the noble japanese cows is marketed under the lable "Wagyu Suedtirol" brand to national and international top restaurants or online to private customers. On the Oberweidacherhof you can also go on holiday in 2 cozy apartments with a view of the Dolomites. So you can experience first hand how Wagyur cattle are kept and bred and personally convince yourself how well the animals are doing on the Ritten!
