Alpenglow

Experience the magical alpenglow in the Dolomites when the Rosengarten glows a brilliant red at sunset. This fantastic natural spectacle in the Dolomites unfolds a particularly powerful and fascinating splendour. From the Untertrotnerhof, you have the perfect view of this goosebump-inducing spectacle - the Enrosadira, which means ‘turning red’.
The people of the Dolomites have their own story to tell about this phenomenon, the legend of King Laurin and his rose garden, and the story goes: ‘A long time ago, a dwarf people lived in the rocky massif of the Catinaccio. King Laurin fell in love with the king's daughter and planned to steal her. But the king's men set out to get her back. To face the battle, King Laurin put on a cloak of invisibility. But when he secretly sneaked through his rose garden, the flowers gave away his position and he was captured. In his rage, King Laurin cursed the rose garden so that it would bloom neither by day nor by night - but he forgot the twilight. To this day, the Rosengarten only lights up for a few minutes during the magical moments of sunset and enchants all those who are lucky enough to experience this natural spectacle. The Dolomites, a ‘World Natural Heritage Site’ for good reason, are known for their extraordinarily colourful glow - so intense that they are also known as the Burning Dolomites.
