Gissmann

Enchanted village on Ritten
Gissmann is the smallest and at the same time the highest village on the Ritten, at around 1600 m above sea level. The remote, idyllic village itself is a quiet place surrounded by nature, providing a perfect setting for rest and relaxation.

A popular route starts in Pemmern, leads over the Rosswagen and past the small church of the Visitation of Mary. There you can sit on a bench in the sun and enjoy the peace and quiet. The surrounding area, characterized by traditional farms, is ideal for a hike with the family and offers wide views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The view of the young larches along the way, which are covered with beard and lichen, is particularly beautiful.

Another, but slightly longer, hiking route leads from the Rittner Horn, at 2000 m, starting at the Feldthuner Hütte. This route runs over the Heusteig, which leads through small stream gorges, dense young forests and wide alpine meadows and leads to the Gissmaner Nock with a wonderful view before continuing to Gissmann.

Gissman is definitely worth a trip, especially in autumn, with its picturesque autumn landscape in which the golden larches offer a unique play of colors.
